Europe Day 2026 in Chișinău: Concert, Cultural Games and Open Government Activities

On May 9, Republic of Moldova will celebrate Europe Day with a full day of public events in Chișinău, organized by the Government of Moldova and the Delegation of the European Union.

The main celebrations will take place in Piața Marii Adunări Naționale (Great National Assembly Square) starting from 1:00 PM, bringing together cultural activities, public institution exhibitions, family-friendly spaces and an evening concert.

Visitors will be able to explore stands hosted by government institutions and ministries, focused on Moldova’s ongoing reforms, local public administration modernization and the country’s path toward European Union integration. Several EU-supported initiatives and development projects will also be presented throughout the day.

The square will also feature exhibitions dedicated to the culture and traditions of EU member states, alongside presentations from Moldova’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defence, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and Customs Service, including specialized vehicles and equipment displays.

Additional activities will take place in the inner courtyard of the Government building on Veronica Micle Street, where ministries and public agencies will host presentations and informational sessions. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet government officials and members of the Cabinet.

For families, a dedicated children’s area will be arranged in the green space near Mitropolit Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni Street.

The day will conclude with a live concert starting at 7:00 PM, featuring Moldovan rock band Alternosfera, Gabriel Nebunu, Romanian singer Minelli and other artists.

• Good to know: Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard will be closed between Mitropolit G. Bănulescu-Bodoni Street and Alexandr Pușkin Street from May 8 (2:00 PM) until May 10 (7:00 AM). Public transport routes will be temporarily redirected via București Street.

Europe Day is one of the largest public events held annually in Chișinău and offers both locals and visitors a chance to experience the city’s civic atmosphere, cultural diversity and contemporary European-oriented identity.
